About Advanced Vascular

doctor examining patient's legAdvanced Vascular is still, at its core, a family operation run by Dr Maged Aziz and his wife Debbie who is a qualified Occupational Therapist. That hasn’t changed since the practice first started seeing patients in New Zealand. Private specialist care can feel like a maze to navigate from the outside, and closing that gap is exactly what this practice was built to do.

MEET DR MAGED AZIZ

How We Came to New Zealand

Our story didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with Dr Aziz continuing to work as a vascular locum in New Zealand, where he trained early in his career, even after he had relocated to Australia. What started as a handful of appointments each year grew steadily as word spread and demand increased, until it made sense to build something more permanent.

Advanced Vascular now formalises that ongoing relationship — giving patients across Dunedin, Otago, Central Otago and Southland reliable, scheduled access to a specialist who studied and lived in New Zealand for many years and knows the country and its hospitals well.

Built on Two Fellowships, Not One

Dr Aziz holds fellowships in both General and Vascular Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. That dual training means his assessments draw on a broader surgical background than most vein-focused clinics offer. It’s also backed by more than sixteen years spent as a College of Surgeons auditor, reviewing surgical outcomes to help keep standards high beyond his own patient list.

Our Approach: What You Can Expect

Every patient who sees Dr Aziz gets the same starting point: an accurate assessment and an ultrasound scan, an honest opinion, and a plan built around what’s actually going on with their veins, not a default recommendation. He performs and reads every scan himself, and if treatment isn’t going to make a meaningful difference, he’ll say so plainly, even when that means recommending nothing at all.

A Practice Still Growing With New Zealand

What began in Dunedin is now reaching further into Otago, Central Otago and Southland, and that growth will continue to follow where patients need it most. Contact us today to book your first consultation with Dr Aziz.
